The Budding actor of Bollywood Ishan Khattar will appear on the big screens with his biographical war film Pippa next year. The actor had recently seen on the digital platform in Maqbool Khan’s directorial masala film Khaali Peeli where he starred alongside another budding actor Ananya Panday.

The actor will next star in Pippa which is bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur under the banner of RSVP Movies.

Synopsis

This war film is based on India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to the creation of a liberate Bangladesh. It was a historic win as the 93000 Pakistani troops led by the then Maj. Gen of Pakistan army Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi surrendered to joint forces of Indian Army and Bangladesh’s Mukti Bahini.

Pippa’s storyline revolves around the 1971 war veteran Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta and his family, he was the brigadier of the 45th Cavalry Tank Squadron who fought the tank battle of Garibpur after which they entered the enemy’s land and put Bangladesh on the world map.

Title Pippa?

Pippa is the adaptation of Mehta’s book ‘The Burning Chaffes’, the title Pippa derives from the Russian amphibious Tank which was used in that war and is also popularly known as Pippa. Helmed by Airlift director Raja Krishna Menon and the grammy award winner A.R Rahman is the music composer of the film.

Pippa Release Date

India won the war on 16 Dec 1971, after fighting for 13 days with Pakistan, India celebrates it as Vijay Diwas and Bangladesh as ‘Bijoy Diwas’.

On the 50th anniversary of Vijay Diwas the makers of Pippa announced the release date of the film, it will hit the screens on 9 Dec 2022.

Ishan also took to Instagram and wrote, “On the 50th anniversary of Vijay Diwas, “We Salute The Bravery Of the Indian Soldiers Who Fought To Liberate Bangladesh ” he further announced the release date of the film that is 9th Dec next year.
